When I was a teenager, after a game I waited for autographs from Rockets players and asked Rodney McCray if I could have his shoe. He replied, “Not tonight kid” and began to walk away. As I watched him walk away he then turned around and said “Come on.” I followed him back into the locker room and he had a stack of unworn Nike’s. He took out a fresh pair and autographed one for me (size 14). I remember seeing Akeem Olajuwon (my favorite NBA player), Ralph Sampson, Craig Ehlo and Jim Peterson. When I looked over at Jim Peterson, whose locker was next to Rodney’s, he was in the middle of putting on his underwear and I looked away at the speed of light to refrain from seeing his peter. Besides me being ecstatic that I was in the locker room of my favorite NBA team, that moment was hella’ awkward. PAUSE!
